Comments: What a nice job Sony did with this transfer. This film is encoded in AVC, averaging a bitrate in the high 20's to mid 30's Mbps. The colors are sharp and vivid and really "pop" off the screen. The film grain is minimal and I saw absolutely no noise or macroblocking. A lot of this film takes place outdoors during the daytime and this transfer looks STUNNING in these scenes. The greens of the grass/trees and the blues of the water just explode off the screen. For a film of its age I am more then impressed. In-terms of AQ I would rank this slightly higher then average of what Sony has been releasing on Blu-ray. I listened using the PCM 5.1 4.6 Mbps option and was impressed. The Surrounds were used nicely and semi-frequently. The LFE was not used much at all, but I feel that has more to do with the film have fewer scenes that would need it. The center channel is where this release excels. Dialog can now be heard loud and clear, of which this is a nice improvement over the DVD version of this film. Without a doubt this is one of Sony's better recent catalog releases and I can confidently recommend a purchase of this new Blu-ray release.
