Comments: Ever since Buena Vista did such a great job with Pirates of the Carribean: Dead man's Chest, they have set the bar very high in terms of overall audio and video quality. The Santa Clause 3 is no exception and even though it is not the best they have done, it is still very good quality. This film is encoded using AVC on to a BD50 and used and uncompressed PCM 5.1 Surround (48kHz/24-bit) for sound. The colors are sharp and vivid and give off that High Def 3D quality you've come to expect from HD.
The overall sound quality of the uncompressed PCM 5.1 track may not be the best I've ever hear, however the bass gets punchy at times and the ambient sounds in the rears add dimension to the scenes.
I was not impressed at all by the special features of this release. Disney has done a great job with the Pixar titles in including content but missed out on this one. There are about 20 minutes worth of extra's and what is worth is that they are in Standard Def (480p/i/MPEG-2 video only). I really don't like watching extra's in Standard Def, however this is what you get with this release. The only extra worth anything is the audio commentary which is quite good and informative.
In conclusion, if you are a fan of the fitrst two films, I will recommend this purchase as the story is fun for the kids this Christmas. The special features are lacking but the picture and sound quality make up for it.
