Comments: This HD DVD is presented in an aspect ratio of 2.35:1. Talk To Me has a nice stylish look throughout the entire movie. Colors have that yellowish tint which help bring it back to its time period. Some scenes do seem rather soft or unfocused while others are intensely sharp. Close ups reveal a lot of detail and at times make you feel like you are watching a 5/5 picture quality title! Black levels have that same inconsistency but in no way shape or form take anything away from the movie. Fleshtones look very accurate. To say this HD DVD is slightly above average in terms of picture quality would be the best way to explain it.
Talk To Me has nice Dolby TrueHD and Dolby Digital + (plus) soundtracks. The surrounds were not effectively used throughout the entire movie but it does have an excellent movie soundtrack comprised of many hit songs. The dialogue was delivered with very nice tonality. The subwoofer gets limited action but will come to life (in a big way) in a few scenes. As far as soundtracks go I would have to say it is about average...
Special Features: Now this is odd that in the entire life of Petey Greene they could not find enough material to do more than a 10 minute segment titled "Who Is Petey Greene?" And to add insult to injury it pretty much is just comprised of interviews of the actors on the set! There are also 7 deleted scenes but other than that this HD DVD is pretty slim in the special features area.
Overall: I really laughed a lot while watching this movie. Talk To Me has above average picture quality and average sound but the movie will make you forget it. Don Cheadle does a great job as Petey Greene. We can add another stellar performance to his already impressive resume. If anything this movie will also be a good history lesson of the mid 60s and early 70s...I really enjoyed it...
