Comments: Fox did an EXCELLENT job with this transfer. This film is encoded using AVC on to a BD50 and used DTS-HD MA for sound. The colors are sharp and vivid and really "pop" off the screen. The film grain is minimal and I saw absolutely no noise or macroblocking. The nighttime scenes in this film, which there are many, were fantastic. I saw no noise whatsoever in these scenes. This is one of the better films I have seen in-terms of PQ in quite sometime.
In-terms of audio quality I would say this was a great representation of what DTS-HD MA is capable of. The Surrounds were used frequently. The LFE too was used to perfection and helped created the encompassing and booming effect. The center channel is where this release excels. Dialog can be heard loud and clear, as if the characters of the film were in your living room with you.
This release was sparse of special features. We get the following:
Deleted Scenes with Audio Commentary by Danny Boyle
Web Production Diaries
2 Short Films with Introduction by Danny Boyle
Commentary by Director Danny Boyle
Commentary by Dr. Brian Cox, University of Manchester
Enhanced Viewing Mode with the Filmmakers of Sunshine
Journey Into Sound - Surround Sound Enhancement
Theatrical Trailer in High Definition
In conclusion, if you are a fan of this film, I can highly recommend this purchase as the story is fun and the picture and sound quality are top notch.
