Picture Quality – 5/5
Audio Quality – 4/5
Special Features – 3/5
Overall – 4.5/5
Comments: Fox did an EXCELLENT job with this transfer. This film is encoded using AVC on to a BD50 and used DTS-HD MA for sound.
Special Notice:
(At first you may think that your TV settings are incorrect, because it will look like a 4:3 aspect ratio, however it’s all part of the movie, it will change to 16:9 a bit later) The animations are very smooth and it’s just amazing to see all this yellow colors on your TV-Screen. It’s like a living comic book with stunning colors. I saw no trace of banding either, which is a bonus.
In-terms of audio quality I would say this was a great representation of what DTS-HD MA is capable of. The Surrounds were used frequently and the LFE was used to perfection and helped created the encompassing effect. The center channel is where this release excels. Dialog can be heard loud and clear, as if the characters of the film were in your living room with you. I heard absolutely no distortion whatsoever with this release.
This release is a bit sparse of special features, however all are in 1080p. The following are included:
• 7 Deleted Scenes (which could easily add to the movie itself)
• Several Trailers
• Commentary from the Crew Members
• Reggie Commentary
In conclusion, if you are a fan of this film or The Simpsons in general, I can highly recommend this purchase as the story is solid and the picture and sound quality are top notch.
Special Notice II:
After the main movie, watch all the credits because there are still some jokes around and Maggie says her first word.... what will it be?.... You’ll have to watch and find out! ;)
