Comments: This Blu ray disc has an aspect ratio of 2.35:1. It is very rare whenever you come across a title without any digital noise throughout the entire movie. Scary Movie accomplishes that. The movie is almost 9 years old but it looks like they just filmed it yesterday! Colors are very nice and even. Fleshtones look exact. Blacks are nice and inky. The one knock against (and this is minimal) is a few scenes lacked good shadow detail. Other than that we have the perfect score in picture quallity. Whether Dimension meant to do it or not they did!
Audio: Scary Movie has both a PCM 5.1 and Dolby Digital 5.1 soundtrack. Here is where the movie is average at. Both soundtracks get the job done, but having 80% of the movie in just the front channels is hardly a job. Don't get me wrong, there are a few occasions where you hear something behind you, but those are far and between. The subwoofer gets called in from the bench a few times but not enough to save the day. On a postive note, the dialogue sounds precise.
Special Features: There is not much to be brought up here. We get the same exact ones that were on the sd dvd version. Deleted scenes and a short behind the scenes segment. And I almost forgot to mention we get the trailor they used back in the day to advertise for Scary Movie.
Overall I really liked Scary Movie enough to purchase it. I laugh everytime I watch it. They have the perfect combination of parodies of all the horror movies captured nicely. If you can't laugh during this one then you can't laugh during any movie! One thing for sure you won't laugh at is the near perfect picture quality. Now if Dimension could just combine that with better soundtracks then they would be onto something big!
