Comments: Warner did a solid job with this transfer. This film is encoded using VC-1 on to an BD50 disc. The colors are sharp and vivid and really "pop" off the screen. The film grain is minimal and I saw absolutely no noise or macroblocking. I was very impressed with night scenes in this film as there contained less noise than what I am accustomed to seeing in night scenes.
In-terms of AQ I would say this was decent presentation of Dolby Digital Plus (DD+). The Surrounds were used nicely, but semi-frequently. The LFE however was not used much at all. The center channel is where this release excels. Dialog can now be heard loud and clear, of which this is a nice improvement over the DVD version of this film.
This release also demonstrates the first use of “Seamless Branching” for the HD-DVD format. They call this feature, “Play The Movie Your Way.” It was neat in that you could select a different direction in which to watch the film. This release also includes several other HD Special Features, which are quite interesting.
In conclusion, if you were a fan of this film at the theaters, I can confidently recommend this purchase.
