Comments: This Blu ray title has an aspect ratio of 1.85:1. As far as scoring it in terms of picture quality I would have to say it is about average. Close ups can look outstanding at times while other scenes can appear washed out. Blacks are very strong (sometimes to strong) while the colors seem to be pretty accurate. There were also some instances where they added to much grain which had a tendency to hurt detail. I wish some studios would realize that adding to much "artificial" grain only hinders picture quality not helps. If I want that much grain then I will become a farmer! Luckily those scenes were few and far between. I actually found night scenes rather enjoyable to watch. The PCM 5.1 soundtrack is better then average. It had its moments where I was caught off guard by the REARS. The dialogue is clear and distinct. Even the subwoofer comes to life. Especially when that shotgun goes off! Overall for this movie being twenty years old I was pretty impressed. I do suggest watching it in a darkened room or late at night. If you are an Evil Dead fan then you will really enjoy this one. Get it!
